Due to climate change, the number of summer and tropical days is increasing. Thunderstorms will therefore become more frequent. This increases the risk of lightning discharges and therefore damage due to lightning strikes. The warmer it gets, the greater that chance is: for every degree of warming, the number of lightning discharges increases by 10 to 15 percent.
