Advocacy
The Association represents the interests of its members and connects them with the interests of society. In the pursuit of a vital industry, we strengthen our social role and are always looking for insurance solutions. Members in boards, committees and working groups determine the positions we propagate.
On a daily basis, the Association is in dialogue with the government, politicians in The Hague and Europe, (sector) organisations, regulators, NGOs and the media. From old-age provisions and social security in our country to the security of homes or the consequences of climate change.
Responsible and transparent lobbying
The Dutch Association of Insurers attaches great importance to transparency and integrity in its advocacy. That is why all public affairs advisers of the Association are members of the Professional Association for Public Affairs (BvPA) and adhere to the associated code of conduct.
Conversations in the context of international advocacy are registered in the European Transparency Register for interest groups. The Association is registered under number 508823592253-86.
With this working method, we ensure that our lobbying activities are in line with the principles of good governance and contribute to a responsible and open policy process.

Members can meet each other at and through the Association. But of course, our sector is not an isolated one. The Association therefore acts as a platform between the insurance sector and society. Members work with partners to find solutions to issues such as insurability, climate, the handling of data or the future of the labour market. Associate partners also work on a well-functioning sector. Many events are also open to both members and non-insurers.
Self-regulation
Self-regulation and monitoring contribute to quality. They strengthen the confidence of consumers and stakeholders. It also offers efficiency benefits for members. Read more about this system of company regulations, covenants, protocols and codes of conduct.

Employer affairs
As an employers' party with trade unions, the Association concludes the collective labour agreement for the insurance business (internal and external service). We also work with a social agenda in which the labour market value of employees is central. Read more about these topics
Fight crime
The Centre for Combating Insurance Crime (CBV) supports insurers operationally and policy-wise in tackling fraud and other insurance crime. Demonstrating fraud saves the sector eighty to one hundred million euros annually.
