On behalf of the Netherlands, Frouwke Klootwijk-de Vries (director IVR) has been appointed as a member of the Inland Hull Fishing Vessels & Yachts Committee of the International Union of Marine Insurance. This committee deals with inland shipping, fishing and pleasure craft.

IVR is an associate partner of IUMI and is an important international link in inland shipping.

IUMI attaches great importance to diversity, but the composition of the committees is still very traditional. The distribution across the countries and continents is quite successful, but even within IUMI men and older people are still overrepresented. To promote diversity, members have been asked to nominate more women and young people. This year, IUMI has also introduced the position of 'Junior Observer'. In addition to the regular seats, a maximum of two young talents can be appointed per committee. The Association has successfully nominated Peter Boekhoud of DUPI for this purpose. Peter will be a Junior Observer on the Ocean Hull Committee for the next two years and will contribute ideas and decisions on the topics that play a role in the maritime sector.

As previously reported , the Association will organise the IUMI congress in Rotterdam in 2026. All the more reason to be well represented.
